ADMISSION SCHEDULE

As the number of seats are limited, admission shall be granted on first come first serve basis. Students must register themselves on or before 10th day of every month for seeking, their admissions in the succeeding month. For example, if a candidate wants to seek admission in the batch commencing from 1st January, 04, he/she should submit the application form by 10th December, 03. Application form duly filled-in must be submitted to the concerned Regional Centre

The CLP would have 27 hours of practical sessions and 13 hours of theory. There will not be any theory examination.

Introduction

       The RETC (Rajeswary Educational Training Centre) is an NGO, running a charitable Educational Institution, registered with the Govt .of kerala under the society Registration Act 1986, in 2005, followed by an accreditation from NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) Ministry of HRD, Dept. of Education, Govt. of India, New Delhi

       As such the RETC is conducting several short term/ long term courses under Academic/ Vocational / Job oriented programmes / Govt. and University and kerala PSC approved Courses to meet the potential employment opportunities for the upkeep and welfare of students community coming from lower segment of the society and particularly women and socially backward classes granting reasonable concession and scholarship etc.

KEDES

       KERALA  EDUCATIONAL  DEVELOPMENT AND EMPLOYMENT  SOCIETY (KEDES) established in 1988 aims to reduce poverty by investing in the development of human capital with the aim of building skills and making knowledge available to all members of civil society for long term sustainable development

        The emphasis of KEDES is in organizing Vocational Academic, Skill Based Training, ICT controlled education / online education that are employment oriented apart from providing general awareness for inclusive growth

         KEDES have signed an MOU with IGNOU to establish community colleges in the names of P.N PANIKER, Father of Library and Literacy movement and founder secretary of KEDES in south Kerala and P.T BHASKARA PANIKER, the renowned popular science communicator and founder member of KEDES at north Kerala

        P.N PANIKER COMMUNITY COLLEGE is controlled and managed by a team of committed and vibrant educational experts and drawn from different socio, Political and academic field under the guidance of internationally renowned human Rights Activist, Justice V. R . KRISHNA IYERthe founder chairman of KEDES.

        In the light of the above facts RETC (Rajeswary Educational Training Centre) a registered educational society established in 2005, and a life member of CNRI Delhi located at Kayamkulam and P.N PANIKER COMMUNITY COLLEGE, through KEDES have entered in to an agreement, bringing out the ares of co operation in all economic, vocational, academic, training programmes, between the two organizations for the larger benefit of vast masses of people all over Kerala

Guidelines for Vocational /Job oriented Training Programmes and its Certifications

As such the RETC is conducting several short term/ long term courses under Academic/ Vocational / Job oriented programmes / Govt. and University and kerala PSC approved Courses to meet the potential employment opportunities for the upkeep and welfare of students community coming from lower segment of the society and particularly women and socially backward classes granting reasonable concession and scholarship etc.

In super cession of all previous instructions the following guidelines are issued for information to all Authorized Training / Admission Centers with effect from 1/11/2011.

I )    Application Form

Separate application form with prospectus have to be obtained from this centre for admission to Govt courses of NIOS (approved by PSC)  by remitting Rs 50/-

Similarly separate application form is also insisted for all courses Coming under

(IT) programme of IGNOU (approved by PSC) by remitting Rs 50/-

Rs 10/- is insisted for application form related to Govt approved / job oriented

Programmes, approved by Banks/Govt/ Private companies/ abroad for attestation

III ) Recognition and Validity

          (a) Govt. Courses are conducted by NIOS, Ministry of HRD, Dept. of Education, New Delhi at various AVI Centres, throughout India. One centre at kayamkulam. These courses come under the category of Senior Secondary Vocational Computer Certificate approved by kerala Govt. and PSC, all State Govts., and Central Govt. for employment purposes

        (b) IGNOU Courses

All the Diploma /Certificate courses having one year/ 6 months duration are certified by the IGNOU after examination conducted. All such diploma / certificates issued are widely accepted for central and state Govt appointments which have its own reputation and credibility.

(c)   Job oriented / Govt.approved Courses

Certificates are issued by TIST / RETC generally on the performance of theory / Practical Tests, conducted either at Master Centre/ Authorized Training Centre as per the scheme drawn up for that purpose. In the case of examination conducted at ATC, a declaration to that effect will be inststed under the signature and seal of the institution, holding the entire responsibility on them. These certificates have its own popularity, credibility and considered as a desirable qualification widely accepted by Banks / Companies / private organization / abroad as recognition of computer knowledge.

IV ) Conduct of the course

On the basis of the mutually agreed condition, the associate centre can start.New RETC/ TIST certified courses under any job oriented vocational programmes. After getting prior permission from the RETC, additional courses shall also be conducted by the Associate Centre provided the scope and employment potential is convinced and approved by the governing body of the RETC.

VSyllabus

The Co-ordinator of the ATC will ensure that a uniform Syllabus for each course is followed, under intimation to RETC. The Associate Centre shall have freedom to incorporate the required subjects in the syllabus of the course for which training is given. However the RETC has a uniform and standard syllabus of all courses for which training is given. The Associate Centre will allow the students to use the Lab / Workshop facilities / Demonstration materials during the period of the course. The details are shown separately

VI ) Suggested time schedule

The following time schedule is prepared and suggested to the course come into effect in all ATCs for Job oriented / Govt approved courses

One year course

Theory                              = 1hr x 4 weeks x 10 months            =   40 hrs

Lab                                   = 4hr x 4     ”      x 10 months           =  160 hrs

Six months course

Theory                               = 1hr x 4 weeks x 6 months               = 24hrs

Lab                                   = 4hr x 4     ”      x 6 months               = 96hrs

3 months courses

Theory                              =1hr x 4 weeks x 3 months                   = 12hrs

Lab                                  = 4hr x 4     ”      x 3 months                 = 48 hrs

VII )  Internal Assessments

Internal Assessment will be awarded based on the parameters such as attendance,Participation in classes, performance in examination, assignments etc. The concerned faulty of the associate centre can conduct internal evaluation, under intimation to master centre.

VIII )  Assignment and project work

The associate centre should give proper and close attention, enabling the students to complete written assignments and project works as applicable to the course with the assistance of faculties and referring books and journals available.

IX)  Examination

The examination, evaluation, declaration of results issue of certificates and mark list will be done by RETC / TIST master centre at kayamkulam. Mode of conducting examination and evalution will be prerogative of RETC /TIST Kayamkulam subject to the approval of the governing body of the RETC. The Associate Centre will intimate the detailed list of the eligible students (with one passport size photograph) to appear for the exam to be conducted by the RETC / TIST as per the scheduled programme. Hall ticket will be issued to all such candidates provided the share of course fee / examination fee due to the RETC is remitted in office for a particular course drawn up for that purpose. The date and schedule of examination will be intimated to the associated centre by the master centre in due course.

X) ON DEMAND EXAMINATION

In the case of Job oriented / Govt. approved certificates, on satisfactory completion of the course, an examination will be conducted either at the master centre or at the ATC according to the strength and convenience of the students. The exam fee for one year is Rs 200/- , 6Months Rs 100/- and for 3 months Rs 50/- to be remitted at master centre. The application from the students requesting on demand examination / tests will also be entertained at the master centre prior to two days of the exam on remitting the prescribed fees. They should attend the examination usually held on every Saturday at the master centre on the date and time fixed for the same.

XI) Examination Centre

The Associate Centre were the student is studying shall be examination centre   provided the number of students exceed 5. The expenses incurred in connection with the participation of a faculty sent from RETC should be met by the concerned associate centre not exceeding Rs 200/-. However the number of students appearing for the examination falls below 5 and their residence located with in radius of 15 km Kayamkulam, they have to appear for the examination in the RETC Centre at Kayamkulam.

The govt examination conducted by NIOS, Delhi are held twice, usually May/ June and October/ November every year at any govt / private schools or colleges in or around kayamkulam. The praticals, viva, internal assessment will be held at this centre.

The IGNOU term –end examination are held twice during June/ December every year at any selected centre at kayamkulam.

XII ) Fees

The fees structure for the various courses are different from one to another in order to attract sizable number of students, we have grouped all the courses in to three. 1) Govt. Courses;  2) University Courses; 3) Job oriented / Govt. approved Courses. Scholarships will also be allowed for selected courses. Details of the courses and fees are shown separately in the enclosed Proforma.

XIII ) Evaluation

At the time of examination for one year course and six months course, the question paper will be prepared and sent to the ATC at least 3 days before the date of examination on getting a report of the ATC regarding the compleation of the syllabus. The answer sheet submitted by the students may be  valued at the respective centres and a list showing the marks obtained under each paper by the students may be sent to the Master Centre in the proforma prescribed. Based on this a certificate and mark sheet of each students will be prepared & forwarded to the respective centre heads, to distribute the same on proper acknowledgement. There is also provision to receive the certificate / mark sheet from the Master Centre direct by the ATCs.

In the case of 3 months course the ATCs  should arrange an examination of theory / practical tests and a certificate to that effect noting the completion of the syllabus and the examination date held may be intimated to the Master Centre in the prescribed performa. On getting the same, a certificate will be issued to the student through the ATC. But no mark sheet will be available.

 XIV)  Examination Dates

           RETC will intimate the time table for the examinations / practicals in consultation with the associate centre. Question papers will be prepared by the RETC with the assistance of faculties of each associated centre under the supervision of the RETC. The answer sheet for writing the examination, materials for practical examination must be arranged by the associate centres and should assist the RETC for conducting the examination smoothly

The Vocational / Job oriented courses which have been commenced at different dates earlier, and the faculty of the institute have completed the syllabus of a particular batch of students on a particular course and fulfilled their requirements of the course sufficiently in time and awaiting to appear for the final examination, in such cases each institute will be provided with specific examination dates all examinations will be conducted on that particular dates only.

Individual applications of the similarly placed candidates will also be entertained by RETC for appearing the exam, usually being conducted on every Saturday provided the application along with the required exam fee is received in RETC office earlier.

XV) Result of Examination

The Examination results of the batch of students will be published after one week of the exam, under intimation to Associate Centre.

A student should secure 40% marks in theory and practical for passing the exam.

XVI) Issue of Certificates

The certificate will be issued affixing photos, to all students who successfully completed the course and appeared in the final exam conducted by the RETC/ TIST

The Mark lists will also be provided showing the details of the marks obtainned by the students in the examination conducted by RETC / TIST for the courses of 6 months and 1 year duration. No mark sheet will be issued for 3 months courses.

XVII) Sharing of Fees

               The sharing of fees collected from the students under Job oriented Programmes/ Govt approved Courses will be as shown below.
